Education is a gateway to opportunity. I'll be thinking critically and creatively about how to expand educational opportunities. I'll be working toward the students’ future and family success. I have willingness and heart to help. Please Vote for Linda Chavez.
What do you think are the top three issues affecting our children and families and how do you propose to address them?
1. Student Achievement 2. Transparency 3. Dysfunctional Board
Ensure that learning and achievement of students is the primary focus of the Board. Together we can ensure our district policies give our hardworking district. We should not have to worry about an administration which is teachers the support they need to help and mentor our children to grow and succeed.
Rebuild the trust of our community. Work with all stakeholders in transparency with a common goal and purpose.
It is time our community was allowed to have a closer relationship with our mismanaging its funding & squandering our children’s future.
How will the priorities you addressed in the first question be reflected in the way that you approach the budget process?
I will maximize every dollar and resource spent, for academic achievement that will impact as much as possible the day to day learning.
Our Community has specific needs and we have special needs students. We will hire more teachers because there is a shortage of special needs teachers.
What steps will you take to address the high cost and lack of availability of quality child care and preschool programs in our communities, especially for low-income children and English language learners?
I will advocate for more funding and resources to provide programs for the families in need of services.
Implement the programs and involve the community & all stakeholders to support and advocate for the students.
Promote and advertise to the parents to ensure immediate enrollment.
What steps will you take to improve inclusion and outcomes for children with special needs or with disabilities?
Find teachers with licensing. Because in A.R.U.S.D. there isn't enough special needs teachers. If possible give incentives. For the classroom employ teacher and a special needs teacher so, to keep class instruction of curriculum moving forward then special needs teacher will help the student requiring tailored instruction Increase knowledge regarding improved teaching techniques. Help develop a strong behavior management plan. If possible have special needs student partner up with several other students to help.
Much of the student achievement gap has been linked to the "opportunity gap" that low-income children and children of color experience, including lack of access to healthy food, preschool, tutors and enrichment activities. If elected, what steps will you take to address this issue?
It is the job of the professionals and experts in the Alum Rock School Union District to maximize the use and resources and every dollar of the budget to mitigate the resource gap of our students. To produce the best possible academic outcomes year over year. I will keep my focus on the students’ education and well-being supporting and creating the pathway to the students high quality education. I will work in UNITY for the success of the students in A.R.U.S.D. through full transparency to all stakeholders.
